from Diana Rayner, AAC(UK) Chairman

Here you’ll find a list of current volunteers. There are 35 people in the list, but they aren’t the only ones. We’re also lucky to have enthusiastic members who organise tours and meets and lead day walks. We only have three part-time office staff, all the rest is done for interest in the Austrian mountains and for outdoor activites of all sorts. It’s fun to be part of the team, and to share skills and knowledge on all sorts of topics. At the moment we’d be glad to hear from anyone with an interest in IT, and good administrators are always welcome. But we all love the mountains – and that’s the chief criterion. Colleagues tell me they’ve enjoyed joining in Club trips, training and activities as a member, and they want to offer a few hours to keep things rolling along. If that idea appeals to you too, just contact the Office at aac.office@aacuk.org.uk

You’re likely to have renewed your membership for 2023 by now, and it’s wonderful to see numbers going up after they fell so far during the pandemic. Our low point – in 2021 – was 7,000 (down from 16,000 in 2019), but 2022 was tons better at 12,400. This year has started really well too, with pre-winter renewals and registrations substantially up on last year. So, a warm welcome to all our members, both new and longstanding.
