Dock at Baltimore, Maryland, for a tour of Washington, DC

Mary wrote: We got up early enough to get to the Ballindalloch just after it opened for breakfast at 0700. The queues in the Neptune Lounge were long for the trip to Washington. We were informed at the desk that we would be unable to visit the Aviation Museum, but it would be substituted by a different tour. We were offered a full refund if we did not go, but because it was an 8 hour trip, we had not planned anything else. Shuttle Buses were provided to go from the ship to Baltimore which is 7 miles from the port.

We made the right choice, as the people who chose to tour Baltimore found most places were shut as it was Monday.

We had a guide called Rose, and 46 people on the bus, Tour 8. Apparently 600 people had booked tours today. Our bus had very dirty windows for taking photographs though. Washington has been very well planned out, with plenty of space around the main buildings, designed by a Frenchman.
