Cruising

Mary wrote: I went to the craft morning and asked Maureen for some black cotton but she said Jackie would be able to fiddle it to fill the hole in my shawl. I started on a bracelet from beads. I have to get 54 beads on 8 wires. It took ages to get started by trying to pick up each bead with my fingers. I found it easier to just poke the wire in the container. Sometimes I managed to pick up three at once. Jackie did not do the hole in my scarf, so I may try myself. I then met up with Mel in the Neptune Lounge for a Fred Olsen Future Travel Presentation. Nothing new was presented. Afterwards we went outside and lay on 2 sunbeds in the sun, prior to the barbecue, which was also on deck 7 aft. I went back to the cabin as I have too many clothes on! The temperature is meant to reach 22°C today, but cloud over later.

I had a cheeseburger and salad for lunch, which was very nice, since the bread part was small and thin. The burger beef was delicious. After lunch Mel went off to the Neptune Lounge for a talk on ‘Spitfire Girl’, but I found a sun lounger out on deck again. I am not missing this decent weather to sit in a cold Neptune Lounge. Mel also went to recital that followed. When we met up again, we went to the Bookmark Cafe for a pot of tea and hot chocolate before getting ready for a formal evening.

We went to the show afterwards, which was Emily Haig singing a variety of music, opera and pop. I was not impressed. Her hand movements were terrible. I felt she should be trained by one of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ coaches to show her how to move. Apparently, she sings at sporting events soccer, rugby, Formula One motor racing, and was the first to sing God Save the King after the coronation.
