I qualified as a BSAC Second Class Diver in 1979 and as a Dive Supervisor in 1981. I led parties diving in UK coastal waters and in the Bahamas. I well remember dining on scallops I had picked from the sea floor off the Scottish coast.

I owned a pair of air cylinders fastened to a backpack, which I strapped to my back and connected to my mouthpiece. I wore a rubber diving suit with a belt carrying lead weights to balance the upwards thrust of my diving suit.
With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had compiled a diving log, but I either carelessly neglected to do so, or I compiled one but cannot (yet) find it.
