Entertainment:There was always a plentiful provision each day of entertainment of all sorts. This included a band, a magician, a brilliant piano duo, singers, and an excellent violinist. We were also able to attend series of illustrated talks/lectures on a very wide rnge of subjects, which always included our next port of call. I particularly enjoyed a series on the Vikings, so I now know where Richard Wagner found the stories he embedded in his Ring Cycle .
Activities:There were small swimming pools in the open air on an upper deck, both fore and aft, together with adjacent hot tubs. Of more importance, there was a very well-equipped gymnasium inside, which I had to myself whenever I used it.
Catering:The catering was beyond criticism, absolutely delicious. There was always a plentiful supply, always a very wide choice, and with no limit to the quantity of food consumed. As a result, it was no surprise that all of the passengers were obese, the majority being very obese. I was too weak to resist the temptation, so increased my waist circumference.
Covid Measures: All members of the crew wore face masks at all times. Passengers were required to wear them whenever walking around the ship, and to remove them only when eating or drinking. Whenever seated as an audience we invariably removed them. We were asked to wear them whenever ashore, and the majority of passengers did, but without exception, the overwhelming majority of the local inhabitants in the ports we visited were not wearing them when out and about.
